The Marine
Band, a cheap little German harmonica, was licensed in 1896. Designed to be a toy, it
quickly became one of the most expressive instruments around ...

...especially between the lips of many
skilled blues, country and jazz players. Nicknamed the "blues harp", its soulful sound was spread all
over the world by the rock/blues/folk explosion of the 60's.
Ever since, the blues harp has always been J.J.Milteau's closest buddy, from Paris to
Lagos, from London to Memphis, from Amsterdam to Havana, from his heart to the audience.
There are not many people in the world who make a career out of playing the shortest
instrument on earth.Without a doubt one of the greatest
harmonica blowers in Europe, J.J.Milteau has played with all the top French artists,
Charles Aznavour, Yves Montand, Francis Cabrel, Patricia Kass... His playing can be heard
on numerous CD's, as well as in ads and film scores.
In 1992, he won a Victoire de la Musique, the French music award. He has since
received rave reviews in the European press for several successful albums.
Deeply influenced by the blues tradition, his style also reflects
his passion for the sounds and grooves of world music. A good sense of humor and a true
generosity make for a specially warm atmosphere in his numerous live appearances. |
